First general merit list for FYJC admissions to be announced today

College heads are agreed that cut-offs may not be higher than last year. Unlike last year, where the number of 90% and above scorers in all boards-SSC, ICSE and CBSE are more, this year SSC results saw a 50% dip in the number of students scoring 90% and above.

from 1.92 lakh applications, less than 10,000 have come from other boards.

There may be an increase in cut-offs for the commerce stream but definitely other streams will see a dip.
The cut-off in the first list may be high, it will definitely come down in the second and third lists.

The first online merit list will be announced today at 5 pm

Students whose names have appeared on the list can confirm their admission by submitting the required documents and paying Rs 50 to the college within the next two days.

Total approximate social cost savings through the project is Rupees 23,78,61,400 saved towards application and traveling cost and Working parent-days saved 6,20,508 towards their assistance for process.

FYJC Mumbai Online Admission Process background and motivation

As many applicants from other states and country seek admission in junior colleges of Mumbai.

Previously admission process was carried out manually with paper based systems. In many of the cases  applicants/parents had to visit so many times to Junior colleges and stand in queue to buy application forms in heavy rainy season in Mumbai. Queue to submit separate application form to each colleges,

Previously it was causing time, labor and cost burden on applicants and their parents. In addition to anxiety and inconvenience, it leads to discontinuation of education in a few cases.

While scrutiny and merit list preparation there was too much variation in correct interpretation of rules like reservation, validity of certificate, and their issuing authorities etc. due to which applicants belonging to different legal and social reservation were suffered by injustice.

Looking at above scenario there was urgent need to design, develop and deploy an uniform and re-engineered business process through web based solution which is capable of delivering basic and value added services

  • To bigger clientele
  • With  Better quality
  • At cheaper cost
  • At Faster pace
  • having Wider access
  • And deeper personal experience

Cut-offs drop by 0.8% from previous year

College, Vile Parle, where the cut-off was 96.83%.
Colleges put up their second merit lists on Tuesday evening. Cut-offs fell only marginally in top colleges, especially for the much sought after BCom (Accounting and Finance), Bachelor of Mass Media (BMM) and Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) courses.

At Jai Hind College, the BMM cut-off for commerce fell from 94.6% to 93.8%,
At KC College the BMS cut-off for commerce fell from 93% to 90.4% and the BMM cut off fell from 94% to 93.2%.
At NM College the BMS cut-off for commerce fell from 93.4% to 92%,
At RA Podar College the Bcom cutoff fell from 93.5% to 91.4%.
At St Xavier’s College in Dhobi Talao, the arts cutoff for outsiders fell from 95.4% to 94.6%.

Seats for courses such as BCom have been filled with in-house students at Hinduja College, Charni Road, which did not have a merit list for students from other colleges while a few other colleges such as NM College issued their first merit list for outside students for BCom only on Tuesday.

What is the cutoff list for FYJC?
